Casino Royale - I know I'm 18 months too late....

Well - now you know better you can check out all those films that you thought were uncut that arent.

Its a very irritating thing about the BBFC website that they rarely mention whether a film is precut.

The R18 section is even worse.

The BBFC cut 33% of R18 releases and much of that is precut already

Just my opinion but while Daniel Craig is a good actor he's a terrible bond. He doesn't look right and his fight/action scenes just look like Jim has fixed it for someone to appear in a action film.
Nothing against DC but i won't be going to see the new movie

I loved it, I've seen it twice so far. It's an awesome film.
Excellent back to basics Bond :)
In fact I'm in the mood to see it again.
I have the uncut R3 version. Ha :D

I am not a James Bond fan at all, but I LOVED Casino Royale.... I think that he played JB really well, dark and gritty, which is apparently more true to the orginal books I believe ....... can't wait for Quantum of Solace

It was a great film.I was a little worried at first, but it turned out great and seemed fresh, which is good, as there hadn't been a truely great Bond film since Goldeneye.Pierce Brosnom was always great though.

I was going to say that, took a while, thought more people knew!
What i found odd wasnt that she'd just met him after knowing him already. It was that she was there meeting him and she only started 5 bonRAB back? I dont know too much, maybe she took over from another actress

PS sorry for only reading the first page, i know im bad, its just you know, 3 pages with loaRAB of worRAB

EDIT i read and understand its a reboot, therell still always be a niggling, but i gets it :)

While Bond has yet to be a "00" Agent" the film is still set in the "now" (2000's). In one scene M talks about "after 9/11".
Judi Dench took over as M after the passing of Bernard Lee/Robert Brown I think.

I agree that Daniel Craig has brought a whole new dimension to the character and is more like the Fleming Bond. Although I grew up on Moore as Bond, he never really fit the bill. I do however, disagree with you on Dalton. Until Craig, IMHO, I thought he was the best Bond, in terms of the Fleming creation. Both his films were darker, and you saw a more hard edged and violent side to him (ie. Licence to Kill, when Felix is fed to the sharks and his wife killed). I hated Brosnan, and wished the legal battles that prevented a new Bond film for 6 years didn't occur, so Dalton could complete his 3 film contract, and effectively do Goldeneye.

In the wake of the Bourne trilogy, the Bond franchise has had to wise up and create the new "version", as the old formula was too outdated and had become repetitive.

I really loved this updated version of Casino Royale:D. It was the first time I actually enjoyed a Bond movie, didn't find it too cheesy & actually believed that that as a 00 Agent he was capable of undertaking the tasks he's paid for. I also thought it closer to the Agent in Fleming's books.

Sorry for bumping the thread but I have just watched the DVD, and really enjoyed it.

I thought the opening BW scene set a more gritty tone, although the gloss came through during the film. I liked Graig in the part, although I have't seen running like that since Nigel Havers in Chariots of Fire.:), and Eva green was excellent.;)

Is it me or was the product placement on a whole new level. Sony products(vaio laptops/bravia on the web page) , then seeing Richard Branson going through the metal detector at the airpost, to the stunning shot of a Virgin 747 passing at the airport action scene. The obvious Ford references(Range Rover/Jags etc.) not quite as obvious as BMW in previous films.

Perhaps it is me.:o

This film was great. I'm a huge bond fan and i thought this was brillient comeback from the dire Die Another Day (actually i wached DAD the other day, and it wasn't half as bad as i remembered :o)

Although i did think that Casino Royale got a bit overcompliacted in the middle. The whole airport chase scene seemed to go on for ages, as did the poker game. The film could have been shortened by about 20 minutes.

can't wait for bond 22! :D

And 6 titles have been announced for release on Bluray later this year- only in France so far but no doubt it will be Europe wide and if it isnt we can get the French ones
