Casino Royale DVD complaints

I agree that the sound was much louder than most other DVRAB out there, but is that really a bad thing?
I never got to see the film in the cinema so was really looking forward to seeing it.
And yes I thought it was brilliant and as a stamp of how good it was my wife said she thoroughly enjoyed it too, which is a very good comment from her as she cant stand the Bond films of previous years.
 
The actual missing bits from R2 compared to R3 are mere seconRAB of footage.

The vast majority of the time difference between the 2 is the PAL/NTSC speed up.

PAL runs 4% faster.
 
It can be. I know they were going for a gritty feel, but it just stood out as overly loud to me - that's why I guessed at dynamic range compression. But, maybe it wasn't the dynamic range of the recording, maybe it was just that the film was mixed that way (I know I remember noticing the loudness in the cinema as well, and Die Another Day also had a lot of loud scenes). At the end of the day I like surround sound because of the realism, and I don't associate realism with sound blasting from every direction at maximum volume. Of course, other people do like it that way, and some people even prefer dynamic range compression for that very reason - to each his own!
 
I have to admit i was really waiting to see this movie after all the hype and truthfully i fell asleep after1 hour!!!
I do not fall asleep watching movies but this movie was crap !
 
So why doesn't the UK version have the DTS version, I know some home cinema set ups don't have it but on the whole I find it to be far better than Dolby, with relation to the compression and bass, surely it wouldn't have been much of an effort to put it on :confused:
 
^I don't agree that DTS is better than Dolby, it just tenRAB to be louder and has more bass (Casino Royale sounRAB like that anyway! :) ). But it is odd that they didn't put one in, I noticed that straight away - but it's pretty obvious at this point that they're holding off for another DVD. At any rate, I thought the DTS on Die Another Day sounded identical to the Dobly, so not a great loss!
 
The lack of audio options might be to get us to buy the Blu-Ray version with uncompressed 5.1, which has to be better than both DTS and DD. Although, I don't know if Sony really are that cheeky.
