Casino Royale-Bond is back (Mild SPOILERS)

I am really excited about this film -- it comes out in two weeks. Super pumped. I have been playing the strategy game to keep my mind preoccupied -- hehe. Have yall played it yet? Trying to get out of the airport but I am really not that good...

You hit the nail :D I can only compare book and movie for CR because I never cared much about Bond before (movie or books) and I´d even go further and say Vespers betrayal is not as clear in the movie as it was in the book. Therefore they left several great loose ends to continue in the coming films. I mean tha´s the best you can have...leaving the audience longing for a new adventure!

ellie_dakota If you liked Vesper/Bond so much you might love the thread we have for them in the couples section of FF ;)

The whole point of this film is to show how Bond became the man he is and why he is just basically a "walking appetite with legs" as opposed to the more emotional and introspective person he was before he met Vesper.

Also, the fact Vesper betrayed him IS the reason he views women as "objects" and doesn't let anyone get close to him from this point on. It is good to see there is a real human reason for this and not just because he is a chauvinistic pig like the character has been portrayed for the last 40+ years.

This film is the closest to the books Ian Flemming wrote (this is in fact the first book in the series) and is great to see it addresses a lot of the things the other films didn't like the fact Bond doesn't even feel British and often alienated by the country he defends. Also, the scene after he kills the two assassins in the hotel and is washing the blood off of himself and he looks directly in the mirror is right out of the book. If they keep making the new films with actual references to the books I think these will be the most accurate portrayals of the character in 40 years.

I found this through the Master List, it was made over 4 months ago, but I do remeber another Bond thread  ..perhaps it got lost in that last crash we had.

But we do have a Bond thread - two in fact!

I'll try and search it out and merge it with this one...

Okay, I just went through the last 15 pages and couldn't find it... *is confused*

The new song and video that goes with the film

Casino Royale official song

PS Sometimes you can see it and sometimes it says that it is restricted only to viewers of the US :(

It's sung by Chris Cornell and, I think, a typical if slighty 'rocky' Bond song.

And here is the trailer..

I just did a little thing on my LJ about the theme song that Chris did and you can check it out if you want, first thing below FO

Please do i was looking for one and i couldn't find one, i'd love a couples thread for these 2!!

The scene i was talking about was when [sp]their in the hotel and she has a white top on and he comes throught thre bathroom door i believe with a suit in his hand asking something but im not sure what he's asking?[/sp]
Thats the scene i was wondering about!

Yeah, I found the same thing and I think you're right.

In any case, I'm glad you resurrected this because I'm SO looking forward to this film. Words cannot express! :D

I went to see the film just before the holidays and was so impressed with it and Daniel Craig. I completely expected to hate it because I've never really been into the Bond films before. I've always watched bits and pieces with my mom who loves them, especially Sean Connery, and I just never got into it. I figured I'd suffer through it for her and I wound up leaving a fan.

Daniel Craig was just incredible as Bond and such a refreshing change. I really liked Eva Green, Vesper is such a great character. The chemistry between Daniel Craig and Eva Green was great and I was completely caught up in their romance. I'm glad I can say it was totally worth seeing in the theater.

Can't beleive this isn't here. I'll throw up some info.

A pretty indepth summary:
Casino Royale introduces James Bond before he holds his licence to kill. But Bond is no less dangerous, and with two professional assassinations in quick succession, he is elevated to '00' status. Bond's first 007 mission takes him to Madagascar where he is to spy on a terrorist, Mollaka (Sebastien Foucan). Not everything goes to plan and Bond decides to investigate, independently of MI6, in order to track down the rest of the terrorist cell. Following a lead to the Bahamas, he encounters Dimitrios (Simon Abkarian) and his girlfriend, Solange (Caterina Murino). He learns that Dimitrios is involved with Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen), banker to the world's terrorist organizations. Secret Service intelligence reveals that Le Chiffre is planning to raise money in a high-stakes poker game in Montenegro at Le Casino Royale. MI6 assigns 007 to play against him, knowing that if Le Chiffre loses, it will destroy his organisation. 'M' (Judi Dench) places Bond under the watchful eye of the beguiling Vesper Lynd (Eva Green). At first skeptical of what value Vesper can provide, Bond's interest in her deepens as they brave danger together and even torture at the hands of Le Chiffre. In Montenegro, Bond allies himself with Mathis (Giancarlo Giannini) MI6's local field agent, and Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright) who is representing the interests of the CIA. The marathon game proceeds with dirty tricks and violence, raising the stakes beyond blood money and reaching a terrifying climax.

I'm pumped for this movie, I'm really happy to see Bond back on the screen and I'm excited for another good Bond movie.

WOW! yes, he is -- Break Me Off a Piece of THAT! I have heard only good things about his performance. Can't wait for tomorrow!

And if you are looking for some fun till then, play the game -- good stuff:

Casino Royale Strategy Game

As I have said before, it is a great way to make the time pass...

I just watched the "Every time we touch" vid - again :D and [sp]I noticed that the day they arrived in Montenegro, Vespa gets in the elevator alone and makes this line about Bond´s ego and then in the last scene in Venice she´s also in that elevator.[/sp] Quit interesting arc/closure.

tonka17 - I don´t know which scene you mean but hey the 8th is the day after tomorrow. Enjoy! :)

Btw I´m seriously considering to open a Bond&Vesper thread on the couple board :look: Anyone liking this idea?
