Casino Royale - Bond 21

As for the next James Bond film they have gone back to the beginning, and starting from when Bond was a new agent - Does this mean Judi Dench and John Cleese won't be starring in it?

But you could take in to account the theory that James Bond is simply a code name for MI6's top spy of the moment - then it makes sense that he has a different face and age all the darned time - you could write off the dead wife and liking for martinis as part of his cover - after all nobody knows what he really looks like!? Anyway, in this light you could have Dench, Cleese etc on the for the ride. Apply this theory next timer you sit and watch a few Bond films - makes a lot of sense.

i think its gonna be cr@p if they start from the beginning again, im a huge bond fan!.

its like with Star wars, all the news ones basically suck. :(

The last few films made it clear that Cleese was the new Q. So the theory that different people are sharing the same code name makes sense.

Having said that, Bond is supposed to be one man rather than a code name. I remember in a Roger Moore film when someone reaRAB out his profile to him and says 'married once' He frowned and looked all mournful yet Lazenby had been the married Bond.

they best have dame dench and cleese in it, i think they are great, real big shame about brosnan though he is the best i think,

It might be another 'how he came to be movie.' They've got to try something new as Bond films are no longer the action leaders like they were.

It was the Bond films that introduced mini subs, space shuttles, submersible cars and armed chases on skis and snowboarRAB.

I liked Brosnan as Bond. I can't say I'm a huge fan of Bond films, but he's one of the best BonRAB they've had really. Yup, they'll probably cast the completely wrong person. :(

The cringey Casino Royale movie was a spoof of the first Bond novel. Thankfully this version will be an updated adaptation!

I'm none to clear on how it sits in Bond continuity (if there is such a thing) but I'm sure they'll work it out. I understand they want a younger Bond to renew the franchise, so by starting with his first mission, it's the ideal starting point. Whether Judi Dench and John Cleese reprise their roles, I wouldn't be surprised.

I heard the idea of Bond being a code name, but with some of the dialogue given in the movies to date, that just doesn't fit.

The real shame is that casino royale is the Bond movie Brosnan wanted to do with Tarantino!!!!

Glad they are going back to one of Fleming's original novels. The most recent Bond movies have been awful, even though Brosnan was a good Bond.

When I heard the rumour that Tarantino wanted to direct Casino Royale, I was pleased, as he would concentrate on story and characters rather than run of the mill set piece special effects and rubbish baddies.

In the spoof "Casino Royale" all british agents were called James bond :)

Seriously it would be nice to see a propper version of Casino Royale, or are they going to just use the name again and write something bearing only a passing relation to the original?

Can't think of the name, but the director is the same guy that did Goldeneye, which is a good sign.

No news on Bond yet, but it will have to be soon - they have to start shooting it!!

After his performances in the bourne identity and most noteably the BMW short films.. My money is on Clive Owen, he'll do Connery and Brosnan proud..

One of the people they were bandying around at one point was Rory McCann who was in Channel 4s the Book Club and was in Alexander recently.Doesnt he look like Sean Connery a bit?lol

I think this should be a return to form for the series. To me the best films were the early ones.Dr No and From Russia With Love.Proper espionage films.Bond relied on his wits as well as his gadgets. No surfing on a bloody great big CGI wave.Since that moment i've said all along they should take Bond 'back to basics'.They should watch the Bourne films and get some pointers.
