Casino Royale - Am I missing Something

Die Another Day felt to me like one of those end of season compilations they do on Sports Personality of the Year.

"And here's all the best bits from the bond season"

it was almost parody IMO

I really lieked Casino Royale and I went to the Cinema in the expectation of hating DC in the role. But he won me over - and I thought the last scene/music was superb - when he said those lines and the music started I actually felt a tingle in my spine

Still hate the fact that all the women drool over him though - bastard! :)

Mate I've seen films on a 17" monitor that have been brilliant.. I think you're confusing the act of handing over money and being part of an experience with the films actual quality.

Yeah I liked Casino Royale too. I didn''t see it until it came out on DVD as I'm deaf so going to the cinema would be pretty pointless lol but I really enjoyed it.

It's the Lynx affect man :D lol

other then the animation sequence and the first action sequence, I was pretty bored at the cinema, the casino scenes seemed to take forever, the best bond movies were the Roger Moore ones from the 70s, with excellent music and action sequences, now its all too gimmicky, Casino Royale felt more like a plug for Sony Ericsson products:p

I'm not confusing the two at all. If a film's designed to have maximum impact on a big screen it will always have less impact on a small screen. The issue of handing over money and being part of the experience is relevant when a film anticipates a degree of audience reaction, which is particularly true for comedies. I've sat in a packed cinema watching Notting Hill and the audience hardy chuckled, which ruined the experience. It was funnier when I saw it on TV. But sitting in a near-empty cinema watching The Lives Of Others I was barely conscious of anyone else in the room because all that mattered was what happened on the screen. It simply wouldn't feel the same watching such a gripping film on a small screen (although I'll be buying the DVD nonetheless).

casino royale was absoluutely brilliant
not that im this kind of person but it didnt have bond as muchw ith the ladies
it had a superb storyline and great acting.
for the first time since th 80s bond felt relevant again
nvrgotfrasier, who thinks casino royale was the best movie of 2006.

i saw it in the cinema and for much of it was bored to death

lol @ a james bond who spenRAB half the film pouting! Brosnan was a legend...

It was terrible, really did not engage me at all...

I cannot understand the rave reviews either??

agree with the poster who mentioned the dragged out ending

Well that comes as part of the deal for having Aston. Not sure where they stand now.

The other thing that made me dislike this film, was the fact that Danial Craig ruined it when he was on Parkinson "are you doing another?"
"well they've just killed his girl, he's got to go after them"

Putz.

I thought it was fantastic, it was a more intelligent Bond than weve had in many years in my opinion.
If this is the way Bond is going to go from now on I for one cant wait for the next instalment!
