Cases for Nokia N8

If I just pocket it, I usually go bareback but at work I like to keep my phones in a belt clip type case so I dont have to carry them around or keep them in my pocket. Im just weird like that.

Anything by Otterbox. I've used the Commuter version on my BB & iPhone & can't rave about them enough. While going naked makes me just a bit nervous, I'm holding out until a Commuter version for the N8.

Bump to this thread. The otterbox is sure bulky, but I'm glad I had it on. I had the phone slip right out of my hand from my pocket screen face flat to the cement. Luckily, the case prevented any scratches or dents.

Cases are always difficult for me as I always use my car dock which won't allow any case. I guess a sleeve would be best for my needs then, any recommendations?

Just ordered my Otterbox tonight. I also ordered a leather belt case from ebay that advertises nicely fitting an N8 with an Otterbox case attached. With a specific size confirmation like that, I just couldn't refuse.

This is the main reason I got the otterbox. I only use it when I am out. I take the phone out of the case at home and at work (where I will likely drop it on carpet), but I make sure the case is on when I take it elsewhere. I haven't dropped my phone yet, but I did drop my N97 once and would like to mitigate any risks of damage to my N8.

Did you order the impact or commuter series? I noticed they just recently have the commuter series available. I ordered that for my new samsung. The impact series felt nice and offers good protection and only thing I hated about it's always a hassle taking it out of my pockets and it's always covered with lint and dust. Commuter series should be a better solution hopefully.

How is the fit with those hard rubber cases? I ordered the otterbox so hoping that will do the trick.

blackraven: what's the difference between the commuter version of the otterbox and the version that is currently available for the N8? Thanks

The Commuter version is more sturdier than the one available now. The fit is very good with the hard rubber cases, in fact it's such a good fit it is a bit hard to remove, they also protect the lense . There was someone else with a N8 that purchased them and posted here and since they were fairly cheap and with free shipping I got them as well. Mind you it is free shipping from HK so it takes a while.

I ordered the Impact Series because I think Commuter is just that extra bit too bulky. My brother had a BB Pearl with a Commuter case and to me it looked like a tank. I tend to wrap my N8 loosely in a handkerchief when I put it in my pocket so hopefully that will keep the lint down.

I might use the leather belt clip often because I always used a belt clip with the BB before - I know it's nerdy but it's convenient.

The Commuter is two pieces, one rubber molded and a second hard plastic "wrap" that its on top of the rubber. Think rubber corners, but hard back. I can't stand how all rubber cases get stuck in my pocket...with the Commuter series, the hard backing lets it slide much easier.

So finally got the Otterbox case. Very impressed. Fits good, offers great protection, and feels great in hand. One thing though: for those that have the case, how loose is the case on the sides (see pic below)? Not really a major complaint but I wish it was just a little tighter fit on the sides. But maybe the slight play is needed to put on and remove the case. Definitely recommended! Thanks for everyone's help. If that commuter case is better I'll definitely keep an eye out for it.

I have the Impact case and I don't like it at all, too rubbery for one thing. My daughter's Otterbox case for her iPhone is much better.

The impact series just a silicone case but a good high quality very sturdy and very well reinforced one. The commuter series has what looks like a thinner silicone case with a plastic cover over the silicone. My friend has the commuter case for her htc phone and it didn't feel too bulky.
