Cartoons you thought you would like, but didn't

We always have the ubiquitous "Shows you thought you would hate but didn't" on this forum, but what about the other way around? What cartoons did you think you would like, based on commercials and previews and whatnot, but ended up not liking?

For me, there are a few.

Teen Titans - One of my favourite comics made into a cartoon. Sounded good. Unfortunately it was a childish comedy show that focused too much on anime pratfalls.

The Batman - Again, one of my favourite superheros, and one with a successful history of cartoons behind him. And we get a shallow tech ninja with annoying characters and horrible puns. I'm in the group that didn't like it until season 4.

Transformers Animated - I was excited that there was a new American-made Transformers cartoon. Then I saw the designs.... yeah. Not one to automatically discount a show based one early designs, I gave it a chance and... no. Just no.

Whatever Happened to Robot Jones - I initially enjoyed the 80s references in the pilot. But as the series went on, I realized it was and ugly, boring, utterly unfunny and horrible series.

Evil ConCarne - I already didn't like Billy and Mandy, but I thought I might enjoy Evil Con Carne. However... I didn't. For the same reasons I didn't like B&M.
 
Drawn Together.
The idea behind the series sounded interesting, but it was ruined by dumb sex jokes and other immature stupidity.
 
Based on people's descriptions and the types of shows I liked, I thought I would love Danger Mouse, and I picked up the Season 1+2 DVD. I enjoyed it a fair bit I suppose, enough to make me pick up another set, and then another set, but I only got the third set because it was on sale for 4 bucks at Wal-Mart. By that point I'd realized that I had hardly watched any of the second set, and probably wouldn't watch a third set enough to buy it full price. I'm not sure why I wasn't crazy about the series. It might have been that the characters were rather one-note, and hadn't really developed much over the six seasons I saw.

I don't really regret purchasing any of them though, and I do enjoy an episode every once in a while, so I suppose my post isn't entirely correct for this thread. I think it's close enough though...:D
 
"The Fairly OddParents". The way I hear everyone talk about it, I thought it'd be another "Foster's" - a kids' show that has enough sophistication for adults to enjoy too. Turns out I was very very wrong. (But on the plus side, the show has inspired me to produce some pretty nice fan art.)
 
I'd say Blackstar. I was (and still am) a huge fan of He-Man, and was surprisingly impressed by Filmation's Flash Gordon series when i rented it. I figured Filmation's other big action-adventure cartoon of the time would be a shoe in. But Blackstar lacked both He-Man's fun and storytelling and Flash Gordons old-school charm. I found the characters really bland and the stories mostly pretty boring.
 
I've always liked most of the Nicktoons so I expected to like Mighty B, but Bessie's voice annoys me to no end and I find the episodes really dull.
 
"Ben 10 Alien Force" Hearing that they will make a sequel of the original by turning it into a more serious toned i thought this will be good and.......it's not, Sure Ben and Gwen stop their childish and annoying fights but at the same time they became kinda dull. Ben when he turns into an alien he gets beating up like a few seconds without doing something special, Gwen and Kevin's powers actually come from aliens.......I mean what's the point of having Ben turned into aliens if everybody is half alien? The plots feels too rush and not enough action, Not to mention they are being too predictable on the stories.

"Code Lyoko" Everybody's making a big fuzz about this show and tried to watch some of the episodes and.... seriously, what do they see on this show? Aside of the gigantic heads the story is too meh, i prefer to watch Reboot instead.

"Fantastic Four: World Greates Heroes" The same studio that made CL, I have watch most of the episodes and the art style is not bad but at the same time the action scenes are too poor and some of the characters are really annoying, Especially Sue and Johnny.

"Legion of Superheroes" Thought that it was a good idea of making a cartoon show about the comic yet they messed it up with the following: The art style, just like with TT the characters look too cartoony mixed with anime, They wanted to tried to do what Bruce Timm did with Batman and Superman yet it didn't work too well and finally....Superman, They really had to put Superman in it? They could've gone with Supergirl but no, they go with someone that's popular with kids so they can watch the show.

"Speed Racer: Next Generation" Never a big fan of the original SR but tried to give it a shot on the new cartoon but didn't like it much, the problem i see on the new show is that the guys who work on the art style are the same guys that did "Kappa Mikey" and seriously they could've done a better job but they didn't it, when the characters move it's like they are having a hard time when they walk or move their arms well and the facial expressions are not good either, it's like they are forcing themselves to look surprise or angry at something.
 
Teen titans: I just cannot see what people like in this show. When it tries to be a comedy it fails when it tries to be a serous action show it fails worse. I really just can't like this show.
 
Camp Lazlo. When I heard it was by Joe Murray, I was psyched to watch the show. It turned out to be one of the most disappointing, generic, and uncreative cartoons I have ever seen.
 
ChalkZone. The show had a good premise. But, as I watched more and more episodes, I reliazed it was pretty bad. I'm not exactly sure why. It just never really grabbed my attention, I guess.
 
The Proud Family: For awhile I found it funny, but the overuse of Oscar bashing (And I'm not a fan of the character, so take that as an indicator of disliking his abuse) and overall sexist tone of the show (Penny's Got Game) was just too much of a turnoff.
 
Ben 10.

It looked good, and it WAS good, but then ben became more like ben 17, and his sister HAD to aquire powers because of all the mom's out there that accused the show of being sexist. It just has taken a turn for the worst, in my opinion.
 
Teen Titans
I thought we'd get a nice DCAU-esque representation of the Teen Titans, but I was disappointed it wasn't as good in terms of writing.

Transformers Animated
After a bunch of attempts by the Japanese, I thought we'd get another great Beast Wars-type Transformers, but I was disappointed it wasn't as good in terms of writing.

Third Season of Avatar
After a good second season, I was expecting the final season to blow me away like the final season of W.I.T.C.H.: the Animated Series did, but I was disappointed it wasn't as good in terms of writing.

Yeah, there's a bit of a pattern there...
 
Drawn Together....At first,the concept sounded interesting (different types of animated characters forced to live together much like an animated "Real World")....Don't get me wrong,I like seeing shows with an older intended audience than children (I love South Park,The Simpsons,Futurama,and King of the Hill,and like Family Guy and American Dad),but this show's all toilet and gross-out humor (which I have low tolerance of.....even South Park and Family Guy don't ALWAYS resort to this,and the writers of these series seem to realize you don't have to be gross to be funny...Drawn Together's writers do not)....
 
Ben doesn't have a sister; if you're referring to Gwen, she's Ben's cousin.

And I'm not a mom or even a female, and I'm personally in favor of Gwen also having some special abilities; why should only boys get to do all of the cool stuff?
 
King of Doom , Ithink Superman was in LoS because he was in the comics... I really don't see what your complaint ios there, anyway. Whats wrong with the S-man?

I thought I would like Out of Jimmy's Head, but I just recently saw some of the episodes and.... it's amazing how little they did with such a great idea.

Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman: One of the DCAU's low points. I watched it a few years ago and it just felt mediocre to me.
 
I see...well, I can't think of anything, but it's still cool.
Back on topic...

Code Monkeys- This seemed like everything I would like. I was wrong. Horribly, horribly wrong. The writing is just horrible.

And...uh, I can't think of any other shows I've tried but didn't like enough to watch again...:eek:
