Cartoons that deserve a remake

It was kind of funny re-reading this thread and seeing the 2 year old comments and how some of them have come to life.

I was considering just remaking the thread when I made my last post, but I figured it might be more fun to continue this one. Frankly, when I looked it up, I thought I started this like last fall, not 2 years ago!

As for your shows Sketch, I totally agree. Both series were really cut off far too early. FAR TOO EARLY. Moreover, they really didn't get the credit I feel they deserve.

Maybe not a total remake, but Space Ghost Coast to Coast needs to be brought back. Easily one of the funniest and most inventive shows on TV when it aired, and it's a damn shame more people hadn't heard of it.

You know, with Adult Swim's current lineup, a little edgier version of Space Ghost C2C would be nice at Midnight.

I dont know about everyone else, but it feels to me that [as] is starting to "grow up" a bit since they took over the 9:00 spot.

Space Ghsot C2C would feel real fun if they really pulled together a nice 30 minute format for it.

I suspect though, that part of the reason it was kind of mediocre before was always budget, budget, budget. I don't think they're really willing to pay for good (or even decent) guests to come on the show.

That being said, I think it would be fun, even if they started to structure some of the bumpers around it. Lets face it, the [as] bumpers have had like no direction for a year now >.

I do wonder what a new C2C would be like. Hopefully Matt Kerrigan wouldn't touch it, I enjoyed hardly any of the episodes made under his watch (to me they tried too hard to be ATHF; if I wanted that I'd watch that).

I'd love to see Space Ghost brought back, but unfortunately, Adult Swim seems content on only using these characters to either promote an event they're doing (The Room), or an outside product (Vitamin Water, Esurance, etc.).

Such a shame that it has to be this way. Space Ghost was one of the best series they ever did, and there is an almost limitless amount of material for them to work with, depending on who the guest is. If all fails, they could just be completely random like they were with those late-run episodes in 2003-2004 (which, I still found to be really funny). I'd still take it; it'd be a lot better than most of the original programming they run now (over 50% of which is live-action, no less).

I'd like to see remakes of Space Ghost and The Herculoids but I don't want them to mess anything up. First of all I do not approve of anime-fying old cartoons. I do not see how that enhances the show at all. Secondly I hate when they make a character sassy or mean like Velma in Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated.

Make no mistake, I don't want them to be mirror images of the old shows but drastically changing them kinda defeats the purpose of remaking them.

I like that idea too, and Atsuko (who appeared in one episode of the original series) could do more cameo appearances. However wishing for new cameos of Caporal Capeman is another thing...

Some miscealanous cartoons from Ruby-Spears could be updated like Goldie Gold and Turbo-Teen. Goldie is another series could be more action-oriented as well. On the other hand, since Turbo-Teen was inspired more or less from Knight Rider. Instead of a Mustang like the 2008 KR series, I'll go for a Chevrolet Camaro or a Dodge Challenger.

Teen Wolf, it could be interesting to see adapt this 1980s cartoon into 2010s context.

And I wish to see a remakes of these toons like The Raccoons, Mighty Mouse, The Houndcats, Ovide and the Gang (Canadian toon), etc but I stop here before I go crazy

I've heard from a few sources that Generator Rex is supposed to be the spiritual remake of Inspector Gadget. I haven't been following the series close enough to know if I agree or not.

Turbo Teen ... really ?

I'm kicking around my own ideas for a remake of that late 80's GI Joe knockoff called "C.O.P.S." about an elite police squad in a futuristic metropolis. It might be too expensive to do in live-action, but a gritty animated reimagining, with a strong focus on cop show issues with a healthy coating of sci-fi, I think it'd be awesome.

I wouldn't call COPS a G.I. Joe Knockoff. Sure it appealed to the same crowd.

That would be a fun series to remake. Its one of the series that I feel aged the best and still has some really good concepts.

I'd assume Cookie Jar has the rights to it. Some Network might want to tap it as a response to G.I. Joe and the looming MASK rumors.

I would love to see The Blue Falcon and Dynomutt remade in the style of Batman the Brave and the Bold, I dont think it would work as a serious show but an action comedy would be a good approach. Maybe with appearances from HB superheroes like Space Ghost and Birdman and for old times sake, Scooby-Doo.

Thats actually genius IMHO. I could really see that working very well.

Now I am all depressed. That format would have worked awesome and I am really finding myself wishing they did that instead of BATB,

Yeah, maybe that was a bit harsh. It does have a fantastic concept (the cops are the superheroes), but watching it now I get the sense that the Saturday morning cartoon format wasn't very conducive to what one would expect from a cop show; 99% of crimes committed were robberies, no murders, no drug deals (except on one episode).

Actually, C.O.P.S and GI Joe both had the same attitude toward drugs. Both Cobra Commander and Big Boss refused to associate with the drug trade, even though it would make no sense in reality. The 80's folks, when dealers were lower scum than terrorists.

Some Mob bosses actually, believe it or not, really do refuse to partake in drug related crimes.

The Banai family (before its break up in the 80s) was really anti-drugs.

Some crooks do have their own honor codes. Ever hear of the alignment "Evil Lawful" ? >.
