Career change to accounting or personal financial planning. How?

I am thinking about a career change and I am considering accounting. I have a Bachelor of Science in Communications though. How can I get into the field and sit for the CPA exam if I didn't major in business? Are certificate programs worth it or should I go to grad school? What about Personal Financial Planning?
