I don't want to burst your bubble, but I think there is more involved than just transportation. Customs is one part, plus you can't just send a motorcycle to another country and just drive off. Even racing teams and people who ship their bikes worldwide from race to race have to do extensive paperwork and permits. To get the bikes into the country is one story, to get the bikes out of the country is another story.
Now, if you are familiar with those countries and have some connections then even better for you. Enjoy and don't forget the pics. Take care and remember this time to do an extensive research before you go overseas. There are companies solely dedicated to ship vehicles overseas.

There's nothing wrong in dreaming...

classic how some one regrets buying something in like 2 days of ownership and makes a complete turn around and now speaks of taking the bike around the world..with out even considering a lot of things.....

A normal person would try to get source a Ducati in the destination country if you cant live a couple of weeks with out driving one / or only intend to ride a Ducati..

Unless you are the Sultan of Brunei who can get his car to London for a oil change or a day trip and I am sure Sauton is no Sultan...

I still hold Malaysian passport... and yes, i have connection there but only if necessary. Still check on the procedure with Malaysian Consulate in Los Angeles. I really do hope to get it there and will take picture for the sepang if they have ducati island like Laguna Seca.

Your dad will slap you hard that you should believe me. chill squid. I am as serious as I sound. You can choose not to read.

I rode down solo to the Sepang MotoGP in 2008 from Bangkok. I think the trip report is on here somewhere.
Riding between Thailand and Malaysia isn't much of a problem for bikes that have these countries' registration plates. Could be tricky for US-registered bikes. Don't try to ship your bike to Thailand. It's a non-starter. Malaysia? Maybe. But I'd be surprised if you managed it as it's not the shipping you have to worry about but the Customs Department. In Thailand, they're shockingly corrupt but maybe less so in Malaysia.

If you do get over for the MotoGP, drop me a PM as I hope to be riding down again this year. No Ducati Island in Sepang alas as everyone there seems to be a Rossi-ite.

If you make it to Thailand with your bike, there's some amazing riding up North near the Laos/Burma border.
You can always rent a big bike in the Pattaya area if your 1198 can't make the trip. No Duc's but plenty of R6's, CBR 600 RR's, R1's and CBR 1000 RR's to chose from.

Let us know how you get on.
