Um, you do realize that Care Bears is a nationally known and highly popular franchise which has been enduring for over a decade now; it's not just some obscure 80's toon that only you and a select few other people remember, right? Ask around, I'm sure you'll find many people who are familiar with it.
Care Bears was more than just a Nelvana cartoon; it began life as a series of greeting cards from American Greetings, then there were 2 syndicated TV specials which weren't produced by Nelvana, which were followed by a short-lived syndicated series produced by DiC. That was followed by The Care Bears Family, the first Nelvana-produced series, which ran on ABC. A syndicated Care Bears series, also produced by Nelvana, followed that, which combined new episodes with selected episodes of The Care Bears Family. There were also 4 Nelvanamated Care Bears movies.
Then came the 21st century revival from American Greetings, which gave rise to a few made-for-video movies and specials, then most recently there's the new Care Bears Saturday morning cartoon which airs as part of CBS's KEWLopolis block.
As for having episodes on tape, you could always try searching eBay for some old Care Bears videos.

Yeah it like asking if you heard of He Man, GI Joe, Transfomers, it was a big time franchise from the 80's, that still continue today. It is not just some cartoon show from the 80's.

Your no where near their target demo, so that would honestly be really pointless. I don't think a 17 year old has any grounds to attack a show aimed at pre-schoolers.
I am not old enough to fully remember the Care Bears in its hey day. I remember the cartoon and they had toy merchandise when I was kid.
But how big of a collector items were the Care Bears? In the 80's was collecting Care Bears as crazy as for example collecting Pokemon or Cuddle Buddies was in the late 90's. Was there a great crazy desire to collect ever kind of Care Bear, did people trade Care Bears?

I hated this cartoon even in preschool. To give you an idea of what a morbid kid I was, I always fantasized about wolves tearing the stuffing out of them...

Heh, the only recollection I have of Care Bears these days is them fighting an evil book with a face inside. One of the movies I was forced to watch while being babysat as a child, I think.

FYI, a vast majority of both the Dic and Nelvana episodes are available on DVD, but they're scattered through several volume releases. You can probably pick them up cheap at Toys R Us is you look hard enough.
3 of the 4 Care Bears movies are on DVD as well. Only 'The Care Bears Adventure in Wonderland' has yet to see a release.

Yeah, thanks for sharing that, fellas, but the fact remains that it's just plain silly to harbor that kind of hatred towards fictional characters that don't exist. Especially when the haters in question are teenagers who are clearly nowhere near the target demographic that Care Bears is aimed at.
If you don't like a show or a character, then don't watch the show with the offending character in it, and don't give the toy company any of your money buy buying the merchandise. Problem solved.

Eh I remember back when I was 3 and watched the show in the hope that they'd use their chest power things to fight each other. Then I realized they were gonna be cuddly wuvable fwends and I hated it.
Really? At six years old? You know man, I still honestly doubt at six years old you were able to think like that and actually HATE a fictional character to that sort of extent. If you don't like something, just ignore it. Fantasizing about the death of something that doesn't even exist is just silly.
I think most people who go on and on about the death of characters like the Care Bears are just trying a little too hard to prove their maturity. IMHO it proves the opposite. I wouldn't watch them now of course but when I when I was 6 years old I absolutely loved the Care Bears.

* Cheer Bear with a ponytail and a jacket.
* Bright Heart Raccoon wearing a cap, a jacket, and shoes.
* Care Bears episodes set in the Stone Age Cavetown.
* Care Bears episodes spoofing Star Trek.
I even liked the "Care Bears Share a Lesson in Caring" spots with Share Bear.

By the way, if you hate the Care Bears, don't watch the show, and watch part 1 of the South Park episode "Imagination Land". I have no problems with the Care Bears, but I still found that funny.

Yeah, the whole of the Nelvana series turned out the best, I think. And I felt it didn't dumb things down as much as people would think; after checking out some of the DVDs recently, it holds up at least as well as any other good kids cartoon from the times.

I watched Robocop at six years old, hey, some people actually thought Robocop as a superhero film.
But I did hate the Care Bears at the age of six, the fantasizing about Robocop shooting a Care Bear was something my six year old mind thought of.
Thing is, I always felt that the Care Bears need to die a painful death. I mean, I would go insane if I saw those things everywhere.
