a very informative article about Carbon... granted its on OPPs site, and they manufacter some pretty pricey carbon... but its got some merit non the less...

Essentially the same properties as fibreglass & typically used for cosmetic reasons. Expensive (apparently)

I'm jealous, I almost bought Carbon Fairings from them for my 636, their shit is sick
 
I got some of the first produced 848 stuff so I got the upper, fairings and fenders first then the tank then the tail a couple months later. The first pieces fit perfectly with OEM stuff and then fit perfectly together with the remaining pieces that came. Fit and finish is awsome and it's super light and very felxible for CF. And it's cheaper then OEM Ducati panels.
