The full moon must be getting to SF.

:-)

I decided to forgo the Guinness in the recipe and use a good Aussie stout
instead.... although I didn't change the Whiskey.... got some Jamesons.

LOL!! Just looked at your web pics and see you used Jamesons as well :-)

Might have to see if I still have a taste for it, over ice.

Did you use Baileys, or one of the 'like' brands?

I don't care what kind of alcoholic "taste" or lack of it there is.
When the host has a www of recipes to choose from that don't have
booze as an ingredient, it's a passive aggressive act to serve one
that does. The host is undermining the guest - so the bottom line is
the host has a negative attitude toward the guest's "recovery".

Please go back and point out exactly where anybody said they planned to
serve the "Carbomb Cake" to a person in recovery. You're taking offense to
something which apparently only exists in your own head.

Marty's question was about the TASTE of the cake, and he used the phrase
"which might offend some folks." He said nothing about alcoholics in
recovery, nor did he imply that he contemplated serving the cake to people
who might have an adverse PHYSICAL reaction to it.

It held!

I followed the recipe for the most part- it made 36 cupcakes. I
increased the Ganache and icing recipes by 50% just so I didn't run
out. I had a bit of each left over- but probably would have run out
with the regular amounts.

I just poked a Bismarck tip into the cupcakes and pumped a couple
tsps of Ganache in each one. Next time I might try 'coring' them
and filling the core with Ganache- that would use up all the Ganache I
made- but these were good.

I iced them liberally with a big star tip in the caulking-gun-like
decorator my wife picked up. [Pampered Chef] It worked very well--
I'm much more proficient with that than trying to juggle pastry
bags.

The cupcakes were a hit-- There is just the slightest hint of alcohol
flavor in the icing.

Thanks for posting this one, koko--
