Car won't reverse please help?

My car is drives just fine, but when i try to reverse it acts as if it's in neutral. A little before it completely got messed up the car would sort of shake when i would reverse. But I had to turn around it some one's driveway and i slammed on the pedal way to hard to reverse and then when i put it in drive i could hear tires screeching, after that reverse has been messed up. Any suggestions? It's a dodge intrepid with automatic transmission. It's like 8 yrs old and has just a little over 180k mileage.
 
its sounds like you blew reverse out , that means you will have to bring it to a shop or put a used one in they are real hard to install yourself ,is the car in nice shape? if not look for a new car or just drive it with no rev the damage is already done so drive until forward goes out ,save some money up to fix it or new car
