Ok wonder if anyone with good car knowledge could give opinionings please.
I own an Astra Coupe Turbo and for 8 weeks have had a whining noise come from the gearbox i think just as the turbo comes in, in 2nd and 3rd gear only. 2nd gear the noise is loud but when in 3rd the noise is less noisey and lower frequency and in 4th you cant hear it.
Now ive checked the turbo impaller for play and its fine and there is no oil loss etc.
Its not the alternator and both front wheel bearings have been changed last year.
No power loss but 1 thing i have noticed in the last week is sometimes my clutch pedal slightly vibrates when pulling away in 1st gear and the pedal has become a little light.
I know its a stab in the dark but its worth a try. someone might have had a similar problem.
many thanks
The Gear box oil is at the correct level (forgot to mention)

A manual transmission will whine when the gear faces are worn and getting sloppy. I have seen automatic transmissions whine too, but in those the whine is typically caused by a pump problem or a restricted filter rather than sloppy gears.

JG is probably right. The fact that it happens only in those gears points to gearbox bearings on the way out. Mind you it may soldier on for a long time. If you want to keep the car and save replacing the 'box, I would replace the gearbox oil with the best you can buy, probably fully synthetic, and accelerate gently in second and third.

Gearbox on it's way out. You can check the gearbox oil, but I'd start looking for a replacement box or getting further advice from a garage now. The giveaway is the 'box being quiet in 4th, when drive is direct & there's no sideways strain on bearings & gears.
