Car stereo battery use with motor off?

Go ahead and use it. There should not be a problem. I have a 580 watt RMS amp with one 15 and a Kenwood deck. I routinely use my stereo at moderate plus levels for up to 2 hours at a time, to watch movies at the drive in, with absolutely no side affects. And I like to hear and feel it, if you know what I mean.
But as long as your battery is in good shape and you aren't trying to run more than 1000 watts and you don't really crank it too much, you should be fine. The alternator will recharge the battery as long as you have at least a 15 minute drive from school to allow the electrical system time to recover.
 
If the key is placed in the ignition so that the radio/stereo operates, what kind of drain would this put on the battery if the motor was not running?

Reversing out of school car park when all other students are trying to get out is far too chaotic. Planning to just sit in the car listening to music until the traffic has died down. But I'm worried if I do this each day without the engine on it will drain the battery.
