Car stereo and CD player won't work, what could be the problem?

The stereo in my parents' 2000 Dodge Caravan quit working a while back, and the CD player. I thought it might be a fuse, but the clock is working. It is a stock stereo system, in dash, 5-disc changer. There are 2 places to insert the CDs - high and low on the system. When you turn it on, nothing happens. No radio, no CD will play, nada. They would like to get it fixed, but are afraid it will be expensive. Does anyone who knows a lot about car stereos have any ideas what it could be, and it it could be easily fixed?
 
No idea what it could be but spend a couple hundred dollars and get an aftermarket deck... they are better and will actually improve/clean up the sound quality
