Car sound question... not as loud... used to be tho?

Ok so i have the tape adapter for my car... and i have my ipod plugged into it... and i was playing a song and it was very loud the bass sounded nice and everything and now it doesn't go up as loud even when i turn it all the way up... and this was just a stock system... always has been... what could of happened?
ANSWER ME YOU DAMN DIRTY APES!!!
