Car repair vs write off?

I wonder if anyone has any advice. My 12 month old Honda was involved in a heavy frontal impact (60kmh), car turned in front of me, not my fault. Car was purchased $34,000 last year, repairs will be about $18,000. The insurance assessor wants to repair the car. He states the damage is only cosmetic and not structural. I am concerned there is structural damage from such a heavy impact. My policy states if car written off it needs to be replaced with new car. I am worried this car will not be the same after a repair. Honda also state that my new car warranty will not be valid now it is involved in a frontal impact.

What evidence do I need to prove that it should be a write off? obviously the crash repairer is biased because they want to repair it for their own income, the insurer wants it repaired because it is cheaper than replacing it with new car.

I think I need to get legal advice but I would appreciate anyones suggestions how I go about making a case to get the car replaced.

Don't think that you should have a problem ,it's not very expensive to mount it on a chassis jig to test it and it will probably be saddle backed 'you do have the final say as if they repair it you have to sign saying it is a satisfactory repair, but how can it be satisfactory if Honda has withdrawn the warranty
