...test results follow.....? About 45 days ago, I had a check engine diagnostic test done showing it needed at cat-converter. Kinda odd with an '04 with 65K. But it's covered under waranty. I took it to another shop and they ran the diagnostic test. This time, I was told it needs a cat-converter AND a PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID (Part P1811). They want about $900 parts/labor for the pressure control valve claiming they have to drop the trans to replace the old one.
Does any of this make sense to you? Could getting the cat-converter fixed help avaoid the $900 other work? ANY help would be appreciated.
I posted a similar question a few days ago, but did not have this much info at that time.
Thank you.
To be honest, the car DOES seem to "jump" into gears once in a while....

Cat converter is engine emission related component, pressure control solenoid is transmission component, the 2 are not related.

In order to replace the PC solenoid you have to bring down the cradle/sub-frame and take off the Transmission side cover. The labor would be about 800-900. IF your PC solenoid was going bad, though, you would have erratic shifting and stuttering at freeway speeds. Sometimes a fluke kicks Diagnostic codes. IF the code was not current than just erase and move along. If it continues to come back, there might be a problem.
