My father's being awesome and is letting me have his car, a '96 Ford Taurus POS. Lovely.

The car won't start without a jump (they replaced the battery). My father replaced the steering column and some pin that was loose, etc etc. If the car needs a new alternator for the battery, how much would it cost to get it fixed?

Also, he has the kind of remote/security system where if the doors are not unlocked by the remote then the car won't start. If it just needs a new battery... where can I get it? I'd say a Ford dealership but he didn't buy it from a dealership and the car's old as balls. Any suggestions?

Thaaaank you.

Question ? Why is battery dieing ? Could be Alternator Starter or Short killing the battery. Need to test. Individually not so expensive. But If you do process of elimiination. It gets costly . Should have a Shop have a look and diagnoss. then maybe you can replace the part yourself. Alternator shouldn't cost more than 100 bucks. a little more if you have it done. I recomend staying away from the dealer on this one it's fairly simple
