I have a 1998 Ford Taurus. The car has been having difficulty starting off and on. No idea why. I have put fuel injector cleaner in it 2 times even though I hear it really does not work. Now the car has started occasionally while still running had no affect when I was pushing on the gas, no revving to tell me the transmission was going bad, no stalling out to tell me the car was not getting gas or that the alternator was going bad, just pressing on the gas had no affect at all. While on the interstate the car was traveling at 60 then slowed down to 35 while I was still pressing the gas then started working again and the car picked the speed back up. I do not believe this is a fuel pump problem even though the mechanic wants to check the fuel pump because I always thought with a fuel pump that it would just suddenly stop working all together. Recently had a new fuel filter put on but the problem was there before. No codes are being thrown. I just had one issue repaired but have driven the car for a couple of weeks since. That code was an emissions code though(something below bank 2). Any ideas?
