Today, while I was at work, I was informed by one of my patients that my car was hit in the parking lot. The tail light is broken and the back and side are all scratched! It is a black Mercedes that I just got earlier this year. What should I do? No one saw the accident and no one admitted to it!
I lease the car... Will this have any affect when I bring it back in a few years? Also does anyone know an estimate of what it will cost? I dont mind paying out of my pocket. If it is less than my deductable then I wont even call insurance.

Get a hold of your Insurance Agent..and explain what happened...and they will get an Insurance Adjuster right on it so you will be able to get it repaired.
It may take a few days to get this all accomplished. See if your Insurance Agent will take photographs right away.

I was driving down the highway and a guy sideswiped me and kept going. I followed him long enough to get his license plate and the make of his car then pulled over and called the police, giving them the information.

A cop showed up about 15 minutes later. He said he had driven by the guy's house and the car wasn't there. He told me to just contact my insurance company, that there was nothing they could do because, "He can just say he wasn't driving it."

The cops are too busy and too understaffed to deal with small stuff like this, especially if you live in a large city. Just call your insurance company and see what they can do for you.

Sounds like your just gonna have to go to your insurance company if your not willing to pay to get it fixedout of your pocket. By the way going to insurance you will pay for more than the accident out of your pocket. It sucks but since you dont know who did it and the parking lot has no security cameras just either deal with the cosmetic damages or pay fr it out of your pocket...sorry

Get it fixed, obviously.

You can attempt to contact the police, but that assumes multiple things.

1. That they can track the person down. Based on the lack of evidence, that's highly unlikely.
2. That you can prove that they were even aware of the accident, and purposely left the scene.

Seeing as you have patients, that'd put you in one of a variety of medical fields.

And considering that it's a Benz that you just bought.....you're not hurting for money.

Go get it fixed.
