car headlight bulb question?

I was looking for headlight bulbs online and i come across some terms that keep popping up. some of them include :D2S/D2R/D2C, 9006/HB4, H4/9003/HB2, 9004/9007, H13/9008, etc.

Im guessing these are either the size of the connecting part, or the shape of the bulb? i dont know...

can you tell me what they mean? and do they apply to both halogen and hid xenon bulbs?

They are all different series, and mounting configurations.
The 9000 numbers are the bulb types and the H's are the blades/styles.

Check out some Krypton bulbs for some bright bulbs!
