Car cd player stopped working?

It's a 2000 Focus. It worked fine is until yesterday. I ejected a cd, and got ready to put another one in when it stopped working. Every time I turn it on or start the car the cd player makes a noise like it's trying to take in a cd or read one for ten seconds... then it stops and says NO CD. When I try to put a cd in it won't take it anymore, before it took the cd without any effort. Not sure what happened. What can I do? What's wrong with it?

the same thing happened to me.

a cd might have fell into the back of the CD slot.
