Car battery died and my bass isnt good?

My bass was really good until my car battery died. We re charged it but the bass was awful..i reset all the settings too...if i got a new battery would it be beetter? the mechanic said the battery was on its last leg
 
Amps that are starved for power sound bad. Check your voltage. If your battery is 10volts or less after charging the battery, it is a goner. Borrow a battery and try your sound.

When the engine is running, if your charge light in on, that's more trouble and means the alternator is not charging the battery. If you aren't running the engine during your stereo test, it's likely the battery is weak.
