car audio troubleshooting?

Ok so im new with car audio and this is my first time encountering this problem. The fuses (3 20's) blew in my amp. Therefore something is grounded thats not supposed to be. So i took a look and oh goodie the power wires were touching the ground on my capacitor (charged) the nut holding the power wires was lose and they wondered on over. I moved them back over and tightened the nut also taping them to ensure the poblem won't occur once again. After this i was succecful to install the fuses and have my subs working again. The following day i jump in my car and they aren't working so i take a look and find that my fuses have once again blown. So i was just wondering if when my ground and power touched on the cap did that neutralize the charge or break it in any mannor? I know they can explode so i was freaking out a bit. So i guess the main questions here are A) is the cap shot and B) Whats the best way to find the short?

your amp is blown
your cap might be too, but they're pointless anyway, theyre just a waste of money. it's probably just as useful in its broken condition as its "working" condition
