Car audio speaker setup?

I have a couple of MTX speakers in cases that I have in the trunk of my car. My friend tells me to face the speakers away from the rear seats so they sound vibrations wont hurt the speakers. Do I really have to do this or would it be okay to face the speakers up facing up against the back seats of the car? (They are kinda powerful speakers)
 
the speakers put out the sound waves. they will not get damaged by haveing them reverbreate back. the only difference as to which way you face them comes if you have a hatchback car or a trunk car. for a trunk car face them anyway you want. if you face them back your trunk will rattle more, front ways will not have any difference. if you have a hatch back then face them back. the sound waves will bounce off the glass and send the waves to the front at about head level.
