Car audio questions? Not burn head unit?

I heard that if you don't have a strong head unit that the amp and subs can fry the head unit. I honestly don't get HOW since the head unit is sending out power not receiving it from the subs and amp.


I want to know if this is really true and if it is how do I find out if the amp/subs I buy will fry my head unit???

I have a touchscreen lcd and would really rather not burn it out.
 
I have never heard of anyone frying a head unit. Also, if you have subs and aftermarket speakers they will be pulling power from external amplifiers not the head unit.
