I would look at Pioneer or Kenwood speakers, that have high sensitivity, anything over 90db is good..but the higher the better, that way you won't need another amp...a sub is going to give you more bass and a fuller sound a more powerful amp will give you a louder sound but also even at lower volumes your music will have more definition the words to the music will be easier to understand and your sound-stage will be larger with more depth...

Hi,

I have a fiat Punto and just fitted a new head unit. I have 4 speakers in the front which are fine. I just need to get some in the back. I will probably fit these in the parcel shelf - any ideas on what speakers i should get.

Also i heard theres not much point getting new speakers without an amp? Is this right and what exactly does an amp and sub do?
Thanks

That really depends on what you want. first of all you can get pretty much any kind of 6x9 and they will do the same now to make life easier get a 3 way 6x9 so i would recomend rockford or alpine or eclipse for the 6x9 im not a fan of audiopipe but they did come out with a brand new one that is very good. Now getting an amp is not necessary if all you want is 6x9s and door speakers. The speakers will run off your head unit. You of course can set up an amp for the speakers and it will make them louder and a little more crisp but you dont need much for that maybe 100 to 250 watt amp is plenty, But again you dont need it. Now subwoofers are you low bass, your 6x9s and door speakers are your mid bass and the tweeters are your highs(treble) You can always have tweeters installed but with a three way 6x9 they are already on the speaker. Its all how loud and crisp you want it. Now you cannot run any subwoofer without an amp the sub will give you that extra low bass that you can feel in your chest and the amplifier simply powers the subs. If you have any more questions i would love to help jut ask
