Quick recap of the car situation.
1) Car has the stock head unit, it has built in controls for the car, and has 6disc player & xm. WHile aftermarket adapters are an option they are very costly and very ugly.
2nd) I have 2 12" Kickers with a kicker amp in a sealed box in the trunk. The Amp is wired with the stock rear speaker wires due to no aftermarket outputs. (Also run with 8 gauge wire for amp power).
3rd) The front system is a component system (stock) with the tweeter placed within the dash itself near the window.
My question is, I recently received a $250 gift card to best buy and wanted to some minor upgrades. The bass is perfect and there is plenty of power to push it even further however I want to improve the highs.
So in a situation like this would anyone recommend I do one of the options for best improvement of sound quality & the ability to turn up the system louder with no distortion (There isn't any distortion now but with windows fully open it could be louder)
Do I go with..
1) New 6x9's in the rear deck & that's it.
2) New 6x9's in the rear deck & just replace the 6 1/2" in the door and not replace the component (I do not really feel like removing the entire dash)
3) New 6x9's with a reasonable cheap amp that can put out 4x60rms for future upgrades of the front speakers and just run the power to the rear 6x9's. If I did do the upgrade I would just personaly use one block distribution for the 8 gauge wire, I would rather not install a new power wire with lower gauge seeing as it would only be an extra small amp)
Please advise any options. While I could spend more then 250$ I do not want to at this time. Maybe in the next year or so.
