this is going to be a long question. i have a 1980 chevy k10 with a JVC 50x 4 mosfet deck in it. i have the fronts wired to the 6" door speakers and the rears wired to a pair of 6x9 speakers in the bed of the truck for my backseat (yes, this is a very redneck truck).
then i have a crappy 60$ road-master 2-channel amp (2 X 50 Watts RMS into 4 Ohm @ 1 Khz (+/- 5%) attached to that i have a pair of 6.5 road-master speakers (40 Watts RMS per Pair) and a pair of 6x9 road-master speakers (80 Watts RMS per Pair) 1 of each to the left and right behind the seat. i wired it with 10 gauge straight off of the battery.
then i have 1 quality piece in my whole system, an old school rockford fosgate punch 60x2. attached to that i have a brand new rockford fosgate prime R1S412 (150 RMS 300 Peak power 4 ohm) behind the seat.i wired it with rockfords 10 guage wire straight off the battery.
both the amps are mounted in the small hole under the seat (the only place they will fit). the road-master amp has rca inputs and outputs. so i ran the RCA in to that crap amp and out to the rockford.
the problem is that my road-master amp keeps over heating and shutting off and when it does that it make the rockford turn off because the RCAs run threw the crap amp.
so what can i do to keep that amp cool? i was thinking about attaching some computer cooling fans to it, is that a good or bad idea. also is it a bad idea to have 4 speakers wired to a 2 channel amp? any help would be appreciated. thanks
