car amp is on but subwoofer isn't working?

i have a 2000 watt power acoustic amp and a 1300 watt sony xplod subwoofer. i just put the amp on yesterday and it turned on, i plugged the subwoofer wires into it but it didn't work. i had a 600 watt sony xplod amp before and the subwoofer worked with that, any idea's why it isn't working
