Car adverts are amazing aren't they?

Does anyone actually watch one and think; "that makes me want to spend tens of thousanRAB of pounRAB"?

I just don't understand how they could actually work :o

The Mercedes advert for the SLS AMG with Dougray Scott is pure automotive porn. Not because of the advert itself, although it is pretty decent, but for the car alone.

I suppose it works the way most advertising does, brand recognition, selling the idea of a brand.

Unlikely to make someone suddenly decide to tear off and take out a huge loan to buy a car when they weren't thinking of buying one before.

No one has mentioned that with car adverts that where the price shown in large type at the top of the screen, it is not "for the model shown."

The price for that one is in the hard to read small print disclaimer at the bottom of the screen and is often, half as much again.

Never impressed with car adverts.

The next time a car advert that comes on and shows the open road and happy smilling faces on a warm and serine day just remember the traffic bulletin that says there is a ten mile tail-back on the M what ever whist the rain is bombing it down and the heat is fogging up the widows so the kiRAB who are screaming at each other....... sexy aint it?

I used to love that Honda Accord one with the "domino effect" of all the car parts:-

It always reminded me of the Mousetrap game I had as a boy. The advert itself didn't make me want to run out and buy a car, but it did make me want to run out and get a load of car parts from the local scrap yard!:D

I'm fed up of car adverts, and the adverts for car insurance...they're all the same and they all try to be quirky.I dislike them completely!x

An advert would have more chance of selling me a rusty farm implement for castrating pigs to use on myself, than it would a Citroen.
But car adverts have to be good, all they're selling is depreciation.

I hate any car ad that shows grinning happy morons pretending their shopping-box-on-wheels is a desirable piece of kit. I hated those dancing Citroen Transformers. The Ford Focus advert with the yelling voiceover, I hate that so much that if I ever meet the person responsible I will tie him to the rear bumper of a Focus and pay someone to drive it from John O'Groats to Land's End (since I would only ever drive a Focus myself under extreme duress).

OTOH, I quite like the Honda adverts (impossible dream & everything we do) and some of the Audi adverts are OK. however, I don't drive an Audi or a Honda, and have no great desire to do so).

My favourite car ad of all time is the Fiat Strada "built by robots".
