Car accident

Fuck this shit. All of it. I'm so pissed at everyone, even myself.

I just got into my second car accident. The worst part is, I just got out of court for the first one last week. This time though, it wasn't my fault. Or maybe it was. I'm really not sure.

I was driving down the highway with my best friend, his girlfriend, and her friend, and as I was checking my rear view mirror for cars behind me, I failed to recognize that there was a stop light in front of me with a long line of cars behind it. I didn't see the cars until the last second, slammed on the brakes and stopped just in time. However, the car behind me didn't. They slammed into me and pushed me forward just as the cars in front of me were leaving.

The guy I hit was really cool about all of this. He was fine with not making this a big deal, and as we exchanged info, he basically told me that if I didn't want to take this to the insurance agency, I didn't have to.

What pisses me off is that I'm a good driver. I've done a little bit of street racing, and although I'm nothing spectacular, I'm pretty good. I can drift really well, I can handle speed, and I don't really ever get scared when I drive. And yet, I've been in two accidents. Explain that.

My parents are being really weird about it too. My dad, who is usually a really chill guy is starting to pent up some rage...I can see it in his face. My mom can't decide if she should calm down, or get angry. And I'm sitting here, calm as usual, and I'm squeezed in a weird triangle of emotions.

I guess what this is all about is that people need to say what they're feeling more, and not just try to hide it in their faces or actions. Because I need to know what they're thinking so that I can decide what I should do.

People and society are weird.

Shared fault. If you'da brought this to court who gets pinned with the bill would really be a matter of who's inside the jury. Sorry for the accident though.

That really sucks. As far as fault if you were within at least a car lengths between you and the car in front of you it's not your fault. They can determine how fast the person who hit you was going. As far as parents go I don't know if they are paying your car insurance but if they are they may be acting weird for 2 reasons. 1. They are paying your car insurance and it's high enough being a teenage or under 25 as it is or 2. They are scared of the thought of you actually being in an accident.

I hope everyone was ok and no matter how old or whether it's your fault or not, accidents are scarey and life changing. ~peace~

I love how every person that clames to have done street racing, or drifting, or drag racing, seems to think there a good driver. A good driver wouldn't race.

It sucks that you had an wreck, but most of the time its viewed as if you rear end someone, its your falt. If you were realy pushed into the car infront of you, you will be fine.

You must have been staring in your mirror for an hour. Sounds like your fault. It doesn't take too long to check for cars behind you, and for you to be completely unaware of the stop light in front of you... You must have been out of it. Maybe if you were somewhere new, or the road was windy as hell, but this sounds like it is completely your fault. Careless driving.

You can't call yourself a 'good driver' because you do street racing and drifting. It makes you a worse driver. You're an idiot.

It doesn't neccessarily make you a bad driver, it does however make you a more wreckless driver. Especially if you're street racing but I just stated I hope that everyone involved is ok.

I have a cousin who does all of that street bike stuff and he's gotten hurt a few times but I still think he's a better rider than most because of his experiences and he matures with each experience. Maybe he's rare but so be it.

I'll share a bit O' advice with you.

Racing is about surviving the race. If you get killed racing, thats not winning. You have to pick your line, your speed through the turns, and how willing you are to die before you win. I am guilty of it as well, I raced my escort with no regaurd for my life and I won. The real reason I won is not because i had a beter car, but because I didn't care. The car I was running against had 500 HP, if I lost by 20 minuts, I wouldn't have lost anything. I was beat from the start power, performance, and physics wise. The only reason I wan is cause I was stupid enough to not stop when I should have.

I am lucky to be alive now, all because I had to make a NA 1.9 FWD beat a SC 5.0 mustang.

Most teens would call it braging rights. I call it pure luck that I'm still alive.

Good driving means avoiding the accedents, and avoiding the situations that result in accedents, not winning a stupid fucking race. Good drivers drive slower, put more space between them and the cars infront of them, not manage to stay alive driving recklessly every day.

Most of the racing I do is not speed racing, or even anything all that difficult. I've done some acceleration stuff, turning...nothing all that dangerous or difficult. Enough to get my name known.

I wasn't even driving my car that I race with...that car isn't even mine. I was driving my mom's minivan. Haha...good times in there.

How does being a street racer make you a bad driver? Hell, how does it make you a GOOD driver? Street racing gets people who aren't involved killed. I don't care if your car turns into a ball of flaming metal with you in it. You took that risk on yourself. But you have zero right to put me, or anyone else, at risk because you're bored.

However, from the sounds of what you described, you got distracted, stopped short and the guy behind you hit you. I don't think you were racing at the time so it sounds like a simple accident. And it's pretty much his fault. You stopped and wouldn't have hit the guy in front of you if the other guy hadn't hit you. The guy you hit has no claim against you, he needs to go after the other guys' insurance. (Trust me, I was the guy that got hit when the lady behind me got hit.)

That fucking douchebag. The guy that I hit gave me all the wrong information. Wrong insurance company, wrong agent, wrong phone number, wrong fucking everything. I called him today to get some fat bastard who had never even heard of Steve. We called his insurance company, they had never heard of his "agent," or Steve. We called the policeman who had his license plate number, house address, and real phone number. We called those, got his real insurance agency, and they said that he said he had never gotten into an accident.

This is bullshit. I officially hate this guy.

Jvlight, the guy you HIT gave you fake info? That means you don't have to worry about that guy unless you gave him your correct info. Sounds like he was just going to let it slide. That's a bad thing?

No, I figured that out. But that just became a bad thing (for me at least) because, since it's his fault, he would have to pay for at least part of the repair. Which sucks for him, but I don't want to pay for all of it, seeing as though it was mainly his fault for not being able to stop in time.
