I was the first car at a red light waiting for clearance to make a right on red. My car was angled to the right in order to make the turn, but there were cars coming from my left so I couldn't. I was rear-ended by the woman behind me who thought I had turned and when she realized I was still there, she couldn't stop in time and her front passenger side hit my rear driver side. There were a few scratches to her car but more significant damage to mine. The insurance companies I spoke to (hers and mine) asked if she received a ticket. I said no because I didn't see the police officer give a ticket to her but is it necessary to call the police department to make sure or would the insurance companies find that information out?
Also, I have the other driver's name and address from the police report but both of our phone numbers were not listed. I feel like I should send a note to her just to see how she's feeling. Is that a good idea to do or is it better to just let the insurance companies deal with it and not contact her?
