I got in a car accident at no fault of my own (rear-ended while stopped for the car ahead of me making a turn). Its no longer legally drivable & the cost to fix the damages is probably more than the vehicle is worth in retail. If his insurance doesn't fully compensate me of my losses, and he doesn't agree to compensate me personally, I am thinking of taking him to small claims court.
Within the past year there has been $2000 put into the vehicle, but I wouldn't expect more & definitely not less than $1000 in retail value.
& Over $1000 worth of audio equipment that was smashed in the trunk.
That doesn't even account for all the little but other costly things I'm going to have to go through.
I just want simply to be compensated for what I lossed, not to milk the guy for all hes worth.
My worry is that I don't have receipts for the audio equip. purchases, in which I bought brand new all within 1 1/2 years. They were all bought online and I don't think Ill be able to get that proof. But, the retail prices are still available as they can still be bought..can they be referenced to prove the value?
What do you think?
Thanks
