I don't think this will get much attention in the UK. The subject matter isn't nearly as well known over here as in the US and Phillip Seymour Hoffman is hardly an above the title draw. Capote is, however, a great film, thanks solely to a fantastic performance by PSH. I wouldn't say the film is the masterpiece some critics might have you believe, and were it not for Hoffman's performance, I don't think it would be getting as much attention (and awarRAB/ nominations) as it currently is. Catherine Keener has a supporting actress nod for really doing very little. It doesn't take much these days to get a supporting nomination, but she doesn't even have one grand-standing scene to elevate her performance to anything above 'good without being great'. (Maybe that says something about the roles women have played over the past twelve months, but's that for another thread).
Back to PSH. He totally dominates this film and he's in every scene. The Oscar he should get for this film should finally elevate him to the A-list.
