Capitalism sucks ass

But you support capitalism by using the internet in that house you built/rent while wearing those clothes. I'm sure you saw that one commercial with them, too right? You bought the TV and cable for that, also.

My point is that the world works around money. Put up or shut up. Sure the ways arent always fair, but guess what? That's life. Money is a great system if you think about it. Basically we're ultimately not earning or losing anything, just staying at a constant zero (if you're spending and not saving only...but even then, you eventually spend) but work gets done. It's a sick cycle, yes, but you live with some free time that you earn and it gives you a sense of gratitude in everything you have. If everything was free, there wouldn't be any order and every kind of organization would fail. Stop trying to teach your hippie ideals; the hippies have never contributed anything productive to society anyways.

now, dont get me wrong. Obsession is far different than need. I am happy with what I can get as long as I like what I'm doing as work and I can support myself. Other than having what you need (with maybe some extra spending money for yourself), you should donate to people who aren't as fortunate as you.

learn not to listen to every punk song on the radio. remember where they're coming from and how they got the music there in the first place.

well then obviously you don't know history, don't know what those words mean, are an idiot, or just ignorant.

let's examine each term and see how they affect each other (i feel like im trying to teacher 4th graders (i have so id know))

capitalism - An economic system in which the means of production and distribution are privately or corporately owned and development is proportionate to the accumulation and reinvestment of profits gained in a free market.

socialism - 1. Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy.
2. The stage in Marxist-Leninist theory intermediate between capitalism and communism, in which collective ownership of the economy under the dictatorship of the proletariat has not yet been successfully achieved.

both definitions of socialism seam to prove my point, ill examine them one at a time and then explain further. 1. is where the government is in charge of the economy essentially. now in america this isn't entirely true, but it has some effects. although many are in existence let me define one government organization that i hope you've heard of:
Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), i dont have the time ot explain everything so if you dont know what this does (and i assume you dont) then use google.

2. essentially states that socialism is the middle stage where private business can be present, but the government still has control in the economy. America is this type of society except that the amount of control the government has is limited.

go to google, or better yet to a local book store and pick up a book ont he new deal, and focus on the policies passed. then research where these policies, acts, and organizations are today and you'll understand my point.

now,

is the most rediculous remark i HAVE ever read on this forum.

EDIT: i forgot to tell you where to find a pure capitalist society so that you could compare/contrast. if you want to find that out research people like John Rockefeller, Andrew Carnagie, and then research why all these socialist organizations were started and then you'll understand why a pure capitalist society doesn't work, and why we aren't one.

Well loollybo what form of society do you suggest. Socialism? We all know that dosen't work just look at the U.S.S.R. , oh wait it dosent exist anymore. Even though Capitalism isnt an ideal system it seems to work a hell of a lot better than any other system out there.

Canada. They turned out pretty fine. Hell, you're from Mississippi, so here's a good comparison. The Canadians are just like you guys, but they have bigger boats.

Well, an American thinking about America being a capitalist country with socialist twists is as ridiculous as a cow playing the violin.
But everything is possible in the USA, even such ridiculous things.
Blimey, what ignorance!
Wizardfriendly even gave me a red ticket!

Well, Sonnyboy.. America's socialism is long dead and gone.
Some of your assholes even portray President (FDR) Roosevelt as a communist! How awsomly ignorant!

You know what? The U.S.S.R. was not Communist! It was a Fascist government hiding behind the pleasant mask of Communism, as China, N.Korea, and Cuba are now doing. There has never been a truly Communist government. Why don't you try going to multiple sources and not just what the American government tells you, asshole. :mfinger:

I love the way the U.S. is run. Yes, it could use a few tweaks here and there but hey who has the best medical services and living standards? Not some damn non capatilist country. Money or whatever its equivalent is will always rule whatever economy it is in. I say if you think its so bad go visit another country and then come back and if you still think it sucks here then get the FUCK OUT. You have the freedom.

I'll start by saying that I neither agree nor disagree with the concept of capatalism. Capatalism and money are necessary evils, if there is no money then there is no order and everything goes to hell. However, Americans have gotten off track in the pursuit of money. Money should give exactly what was intended, the ability to buy things. The American system of capitalism lost track of the ideal in that money brings more than buying things, money brings power, money brings influence, and money brings freedom from the law. Just as we will never have a poor president, we will never see Bill Gates on death row, regardless of the evidence against him.(The reference to Bill Gates was hypothetical so don't flame me for quoting a non-exictant case.) The only way to correct capitalism would be to somehow seperate power and money and this will never be done, simpily because the only people in a postition to do this are reaping the benefits of a flawed system.

Secondly, I don't know if I am the only one to notice this but socialistic capitalism is an oxymoron. Though this is mostly a technicality I thought it important to point out that either the government rules commerce, or private businesses do. I will admit that there are several agencies allowing the government to get their hand in the pot of commerce, however this is in no way a large enough effect to constitute socialistic capitalism.

And finally, I have just as much discontent with our current system of commerce and government as the next person, however it is important to realize that no matter what is done there will always be flaws. The simple fact that commerce and government are all ruled by the same thing, humans, verifies that it can never be perfect. However, government and commerce are both works in progress, we have been working towards government and commerce since we first began to walk errect (or came into existance for the religious folks amongst us.) and we have come quite a distance in our attempts. This can be seen simply by looking at the many third-world countries of Asia and Africa. America's government and commerce is definately and inherently flawed, however it is leaps and bounds ahead of where others are, and will surely see more positive, and negative, changes as we as humans and as a society evolve and grow.

Okay... I'm done now.
