cant use chat functions in WOW?

i have just put my headset in and when i do an in game test it replays my voice fine, thing is i can t hear anyone and i dont think they can hear me.
please help.
ive also tried joining various channels and stuff.
 
you use the chat funcyion when your in a party so try it there
if that fails try testing the volume
