Cant take off my fuel filter 94 ford f150?

The last guy who owned im pretty sure screwed up the springs inside the fuel line cause the toos isnt working. It pretty chewed up the filter is. Anyways I got the line from the engine to the filter but the the line coming from the tank to the filter is not coming off. Tried pulling but wont come off.

If it's the type I am thinking of, get in there with a little flat screwdriver and try to push the tabs back.
