Can't sync Palm TX with Outlook 2003

I cannot synch my Palm TX with Outlook 2003, despite having chosen to sync with Outlook 2003 at the end of the installation process. Palm tells me to go to Chapura for the free conduit updates. Chapura tells me there are no free updates and Palm should supply the conduits as part of the installation package. I'm sure there is a very basic answer to this but the Palm TX user manuals and Palm e-mail support have been next to useless.

I'd say that Outlook has an error in it's setup.

Go into Outlook and under the Help menu there is an option to Detect and Repair.....run it. You may need your MS Office CD's- or not most of the time not.

Attempt another Hot Sync and advise. There should be a note field in your Outlook folder with your user name on it....if not then rerun the installer but try the Detect and Repair first.

After months of syncing Outlook 2003 with my old Tungsten T2, I did not suspect that my sync issue was caused by an Outlook 2003 problem. I figured it had to be the new Palm TX. But I did just as Moose Man suggested. I ran the Detect and Repair Option in Outlook 2003 (never even knew it was there!), performed a Hot Sync, and voila - it worked perfectly. Many many thanks, Moose Man!

This is a fairly common issue, especially when upgrading Palm devices. Anytime you see an OLERR...... error it's an Outlook issue. And Detect and Repair will normally fix the issue.

Glad I could help and thanks for reporting back so others know that this might work for them. :)

Some devices come with special Palm Outlook Conduits that allow synchronization with Microsoft Outlook. However, the Outlook conduits included with your handheld may not support synchronization with Outlook 2003. Go to www.palm.com, then to the support section with the Support Knowledge Library. Type in:

Solution ID: 25026
Having trouble synchronizing with Microsoft Outlook 2003 using Palm Outlook Conduits

I hope this helps.

It's always nice to hear from the people at Palm but it might be better if when your posting to a thread you have read it completely so that your comments are germaine to the point. And in this case, I think that you did bother to see that this issue was resolved by a suggestion other than by a Palm tech support suggestion.

To put in a "canned" response to a user's issue is one of the reasons that forum's like this exist.....they can be more helpful then a "canned" response.

IMHO, to jump into a thread and suggest a fix to an issue that has already been resolved is a bit inappropriate, don't you agree?

I'm not trying to be critical other than it's always more helpful to throughly read and understand a customer's question or concern and address it. And when it's solved as it is in this case.

Also, it does not bode well for Palm to state:

The software that Palm ships with the T/X in this case, is designed to be used with Outlook 2003 out of the box.
