Hi everyone.

I got an ME45 off eBay and it worked fine, but it had the original firmware v5 on it, which is quite outdated. So I went to the Siemens website and got the v21, which is not the most recent, but sufficient.
The update process went fine, but when the progress bar reached 100% a message box came up, saying cannot connect to the phone. After that the upgrade app shut down and I couldn't turn on the phone again. When I press the power-on button I can hear a very soft noise in the speaker for a few seconds, then it turns off again. There is nothing happening in the display, even if I try to recharge the battery.
I went to the official update partner today and he said he couldn't do a thing for me, because the phone couldn't be turned on. So I found the way to this forum. I read quite a lot, but I still don't know if I should even start trying. Is the guy from the service center right? I don't have a no-name cable, just the original one, but I have found a page with modding instructions, so this might work ...

Thanks for any ideas!

If this does not help you'll need the BIG solution
Find the Software "UniSiemens" and try to save your EEProm first (if this had worked) you'll escape a few steps
then go to www.multifund.de, Siemens Section, Fubu and download one for your mobile (It doesn't matter if it is for the S45 series)
Have a look to the fileextension. If it is FLS you'll have to download Freia, if it's BIN you can use UniSiemens to flash it back.
Flash it back to your phone
Start UniSiemens, load your EEProm file (if you were able to save it), flash it in phone...
Power on phone, hope it works

If you were not able to secure your EEP then start Freia, click on unlock, marc direct unlock - no mapped saved, type in the IMEI manually (the number is coverd by the battery it's 15digits long but you can only type in 14, that's okay, the last one will be calculated) click ok, press red button, wait until OK
Restart phone, be happy

Bye

Thank you for your answers. I've made a custom cable from the original one now and attached a 5V power supply, so that my Siemens cable is acting like a no-name one now.
Unfortunately neither of the apps you both mentioned seems to work with my phone. Trying numerous times, I made it twice that there was a connection in winswup for a short time, but then it disconnected again. The only software that seems to make contact to the phone is Sm45Tools v1.2 It connects, but often disconnects after "Reading Boot". One time I could read from Flash but with a lot of frame errors, but it worked. Unfortunately it only supports .bin files for writing and I have only found .fls files so far.

Try V_Klay, that also supports FLS and BIN files Sorry totally forget that to mention here

I don't think the prob. is the software, nor the 5 V supply (also non-original cables get powered from DTR/RTS unused lines), I suppose the non-orig ones have only RX-TX(GND) active lines, the others (DSR,CTS) are simply not connected. Anyway, I'm just playing with the Max driver on a S45 (same like ME45), I'll tell you how the cable should be if you are still in trouble.
