Can't stop shaking.

Hello everyone. I'm a 17 year old male and starting since last night, I can't stop shaking! This hasn't exactly been the best week for me either, though. I wasn't feeling well Tuesday and Wednesday so I didn't eat or drink much. Also I only got a few hours of sleep each night. Last night, I stayed up until 1:30 in the morning writing a paper for school, I was very tired. However I woke up at 5:45 and was unable to sleep after that! Insomnia! I tried taking a nap when I got home, but I was having an extremely hard time getting to sleep. I tried a sleep-aid, and that didn't help one bit.

Can someone please help me try and figure out why I'm shaking so much?

Fatigue and exhaustion can cause shaking and a feeling of weakness. Since you haven't been feeling well, you could be getting a fever. People get the chills and shakes as their temperature rises. Have you ever had the flu before? (the real flu, Influenza, often starts with chills and shaking)

Drink lots of clear fluids and see a doctor, especially if your temp spikes.

Did the shakes start before or after the sleep aid? An allergic reaction could also cause shakes.

It sounds like you have 'Anxiety' that causing insomnia in the first place. Or, if you've been on some med., particularly psycho. med. that sometime causing shaking along with insomnia.

In my suggestion, try to consult with General Dr./Family Dr. who is able to pin-point and direct appropriate dr. for you to see.

Please post back if there is/are any questions you need to ask on this board.

Hi, you had mentioned you hadn't eaten or had much to drink for a couple of days. Did the shakes start after that? Your blood sugar may have gotten low which can cause dizziness/shakes.
