Can't stop picking!

I don't have a horrible acne problem, but when I do get a pimple or two I find myself obesessing over it. I run my finger over it, pick at it (thinking if I can't feel it then it's gone even though I know this isn't true). I know by picking at it all day it's just going to get worst, but I can't seem to stop! I go home and apply peroxide and neosporan, then I have a scab the next day and I end up picking at it again! And by having my fingers on my face all day I usually create a couple more pimples in the same area.

Anyone else have this problem and found a way to stop obsessing!?

i definitely have the same problem! and now my face is covered with scars from tiny pimples that i picked, and then i picked again once they scabbed. it's really terrible. sometimes i think that if i just wasn't allowed to ever touch my face, my skin would eventually be great. but i obsess and try to pop every little bump i see, even if it has no head and is really only noticeable to me. and then, throughout the day, i apply more and more makeup, which definitely makes me break out more. i've always wondered- for the pimples that do scab, is picking the scab off good or bad? i know that all picking in general is bad, but i once heard that removing scabs is helpful because then you get oxygen to the cut which helps it heal. does anyone know which is true? id love to hear some suggestions!!

Don't touch your face and don't look in the mirror......
Within a few days this will actually be easier than you thought
and you'll feel better about yourself and your skin will look better.

Give it a try

I have the same problem! What seems to work for me is I make a deal with myself...I picked yesterday at 10a so I can't pick today until 2p. Then I pick at 2 and can't pick again until 8p tomorrow. So I'm always trying to increase from 24 hours (24 + 4 hours first day, +6 next etc). I also try to be more diligent about washing my face at night (I'm good about washing in am) and putting on a heavy moisturizer (It keep the scabs a little more pliable because the harder they are the more likely I am to pick) at night. Good luck!

I've been struggling with the same problem for years, and there's a few tips I've found that seem to be helping me more than anything else.
1) On a bad day, accept that your skin isn't going to be perfect no matter what you do, and keep focusing on the fact that if you leave it alone all day, it'll clear up faster. (I know it's hard, but if you're a perfectionist like me than thinking about the overall goal helps!!)
2) With pimples that raise up, try putting ice on them to bring the swelling down and flatten them out, then put ointment and concealer on them to cover up for the day.
3) Mederma!!It's a little on the expensive side, but very worth your money. It helps clear up minor scars pretty fast.
These all have helped me a lot, but more than anything the thing that has worked the best is setting little goals for myself of not picking 'til a certain date and then rewarding myself with something I've been wanting. Not sure if it'll help anyone else, but thought I'd put it out there!

I have this problem too. I can't stand it, if I feel or see even the smallest bump, I will have the urge to pick at it till I feel whatever is in it, is gone.

Sunshine, where might you get Mederma? Drugstores?

Yup, I've found it at local drugstores and grocery stores. It's about $19 a tube, but it lasts a long time and works wonders, at least that's been my experience! Good luck=)

I know it's hard but picking is so bad, if you have any thing with puss use a neddle.
