its a children/adolescent book that i read years ago. about twins (one powerful male and female pair) adventuring to find better lives. leave a color (rainbow) based tiered society. travel across deserts meet strange new people (there was a village of traveling people in sand boats). i vividly remember a childrens army of blank faced and numb minded smiling children marching after the twins and falling off of a cliff one by one to fill a ravine and make a bridge of bodies to follow after their quarry. i really want to find this book again but i dont know how... has anyone read it and know what im talking about?
