Cant remember the name of the book......?

I started reading a book my freshman year of highschool. I cant remember the name of the book. I remember the cover have flames all over it and the title may have started with a G. It followed the life of a boy who lives in a military camp, and his father is a chemist who is working on some military operation. If anyone knows what this is, please help
