can't receive text messages?

I use an Audiovox CDM-8600 (I know, worst phone ever) and I can send text messages to someone, and they will simply get it... but when someone texts me, I won't get it, or there's times where I will get the message but my phone won't receive it til like, 10 days later... please help.
 
I have the exact same problem! i have had a couple of cingular phones all on the same plan and the same line and no matter what type of phone i get there will be at least a couple times during the day, with people from all different services, where I wont get their text or they wont get one that i sent them. I tried deleting my texts more often and turning my phone on and off more but so far none of that has helped. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
