Can't get hard for sex?

My girlfriend and I tried to have sex for the first time today. (Im a virgin, she is not) . we were hangin out for like 5 hours in my bed and I had a boner like the whole time, but when we tried it just went away. nothin like this has ever happened before to me. and no im not gay im extremely attracted to her.

-anyone know why this happens?
- any suggestions for next time?
Edit: to answer someone's question, we are both 16. i know that may seem too young to many of you but I assure you we have taken many precautions. She is on the pill so i didnt have a condom today, but that is true about the STD's and stuff, ill be sure to use one
 
I know this sounds familiar. Wear a condom, unless you plan to have a baby. I think you just freaked out. You weren't sure what to do, so you just lay in bed doing nothing, too nervous to even talk much. Maybe you were scared of something.

That sounds like a psychological problem. Any childhood drama that you're not willing to share with us over the internet that's bogging you down?
 
maybe you just werent mentally ready for it so next time right before your about to have sex have her do something that really turns you on
