I'm a current original AT&T Wireless sub and need to upgrade since Cust Service is telling me the reason my mMode and Java IM clients won't connect anymore is that the old AT&T network is being shut down. In any case, I've accepted the fact that an upgrade of my old Moto v505 is inevitable.
I hit at&t's website and was checking out their selection of phones. To be honest, I'm not overly excited about any of them but if I had to pick, I've narrowed it down to the Samsung SYNC and LG's CU500v (which is currently "out of stock"). I'm leaning toward the CU500v but digging deeper, I see it doesn't have voice dialing and I'm not thrilled about having to pay at&t another $4.95/mo. for their voice dial service just so I can use my bluetooth earpiece safely while driving without having to look down to push buttons like I do now with my Moto v505. I'm used to pushing the button on the headset, speaking a name from my phonebook and having the phone connect. Not having that is going to be a major hassle.
Does the SYNC have voice dialing built into the phone or is the CU500v that much better that I should pay the $4.95/mo. for voice dial? Or is there a better phone out there that I should consider upgrading with that has voice dial built in? I've checked out CNet's reviews and the CU500v is highly rated but the SYNC isn't far off. At this point, I'm just getting frustrated trying to find a good phone out of a sea of blah phones on their website. Back in 2004 when I got the v505 phone, it was a "cool" phone and I got excited about buying it. I'm not getting that feeling from any of the current phones on the at&t site, including the over-hyped/overrated RAZRs. Help me choose, people.
